Created in 2007 to break the wall of prejudice on disability and social hardship.
Nave Italia is the largest operating brig in the world. The ship is open to anyone who is fighting a battle to get rid of prejudice on disability and social hardship. On this beautiful sailing ship, Tender To Nave Italia Foundation has been carrying out educational and inclusive projects since 2007 based on solidarity, cooperation and community spirit. These are our founding values, and you can feel them when you come on board and you start sailing together.

On board
activities
On board Nave Italia everyone is part of the same crew. Professional sailors, educators and participants live life on board together: they collaborate in the corvée and navigation shifts and carry out laboratory activities according to the aims of the project’sgoals.
MANEUVER TO THE SAILS
Maneuvering the ropes with the professional sailors, the group hoist the sails under the Commander’s and Boatswain’s directions. Collaboration and team spirit are the basis of this evocative activity.
HELMING
Anotherof the seafaring activities carried out on board. Flanked by a professional sailor, the boys take control of the ship, helming the ship in first person.
KNOTS’ LABORATORY
In this preparatory workshop, where the young people are taught how to construct the framework of the knots with the line, they understand, while learning how to tie them, the use of the main seafaring knots.
CLIMBING THE MAST
The ascent to the mast involves scrambling the foremast up to the first crown’s nest. It’s one of the most demanding activities for a participant in the mission: climb high to get to know yourself more deeply.
